FRONT OF HOUSE APPRENTICESHIP – NEW!
New Front of House Apprenticeship
New Government Funding Presents Great Opportunity For Hospitality Businesses
In a move that is generating a lot of excitement in the hospitality industry, The Victorian Government has just announced new funding for a front of house apprenticeship.
This announcement heralds the return of the career waiter and recognises the hospitality industry’s need for better qualified front of house staff and front of house career pathways.
On-the-job training provider AVTES is the first provider in Victoria to respond to the anticipated demand in this area, driven by enthusiastic hospitality business owners and managers who have been asking for this for a long time.
“While front-of-house qualifications have been available, they have been out of reach of many business owners” said AVTES Director, Chris Fitzgibbon.
“This unprecedented support for a front of house apprenticeship will really boost activity in this area and make it more affordable for employers,” he added. “Hopefully this will make it more attractive and more employers will invest in training their front of house staff.”
Benefits For You
Along with greatly reduced fees, employers can expect the following benefits;
- Improved food and beverage service practices

Recognition as an apprenticeship means that both the hospitality industry and the Victorian Government understand the importance of front of house staff and food and beverage service skills in building a thriving hospitality industry in our state.
This apprenticeship qualification will be delivered only to students in employment. This means that upon completion, they will have practical, real-world skills to accompany the knowledge they develop.
